Despite what you may have heard, there really is no wrong way to plan a wedding. For some couples, they start with the big task of choosing a venue. For others — the really smart ones, wink, wink — start with choosing the wedding photographer who will journey with them through every step of the process, and, of course, the big day.
What matters most to each couple varies, the most important part is knowing what matters most for your wedding day. For Shandra and Justin, finding the perfect wedding photographer in New Mexico to compliment their personalities and values was the most important step.
So, 18 months before the big day, we got to meet this sweet, determined couple! From then on, we got to witness their planning process as they got closer and closer to that everlasting commitment to each other.
Which, if you know the Shayla Cristine Photography team at all, you’ll know that building friendships with our couples is the most important part for us, too! Not to mention, it’s the most fun part as well.

Dressed by an Albuquerque local favorite, Bridal Elegance by Darlene, Shandra strutted into her new wife life as a gorgeous, glowing vision! With details stemming from other amazing small businesses in New Mexico like The Flower Company and Simply Sweet by Darci — the couple made their day a celebration of love, hard work, and the magic of our local community.
Shandra and Justin paid for their entire wedding by themselves, and put as much heart and soul into their DIY details as they do into each other. We only hope that every couple who comes through our digital doors has the friendship, high spirits, and great taste that Shandra and Justin do! Grateful doesn’t even begin to express how we felt being there for their special day.
